Inauguration of Ryurei-style Tea House at Makati Park and Garden, the Philippines

Makati, considered the financial capital of the Philippines, is one of the cities that make up Metro Manila. On January 28, 2008, Daisosho SEN Genshitsu attended the inauguration of a ryurei-style tea house which he had named "Ryosen'an," meaning "Cool Water-spring Abode," built at Makati Park and Garden and designed by the Urasenke building department. The initiative to build a Japanese tea house in the city's main garden park began with Lior LEICHSTENSTEIN, Past President of the Rotary Club of Makati Metro, who was inspired by the ideals of chado after having read a book by SEN Genshitsu. Daisosho SEN Genshitsu donated a full set of chanoyu implements to the Urasenke Tankokai Manila Association, for use at this new Japanese cultural facility that is to be utilized for various public events.
