June 26 (Tue)
The ship set anchor at Tianjin Port early in the morning, and the delegation received a warm welcome from about 200
local elementary school children. Boarding chartered buses, the delegates then went to the Tianjin University of
Commerce, where the Tianjin Urasenke College of the Way of Tea is located. A ceremonial function was held at the
Scholarly Exchange Center, and the delegation presented the Urasenke College with a set of books and set of Japanese
tableware. While most of the delegates inspected the College facilities, SEN Soshi and a number of representatives
attended a friendship exchange luncheon party at Nankai University, located in Tianjin, where SEN Soshi holds a position
as visiting professor. Later, the delegation moved to Beijing, where they enjoyed Chinese dinner at a large restaurant
and then checked in at their hotel.
