Prime Minister Dr. Miro CERAR of the Republic of Slovenia made a four-day visit to Japan the first part of October, 2016. It began with a bilateral meeting with Japan's Prime Minister, Shinzo ABE, the morning of October 2 at the Kyoto International Conference Center, where both of them would speak at the annual Science and Technology in Society forum.

Prime Minister Cerar, accompanied by several of his staff members and Ambassador Simona LESKOVAR of the Slovenian Embassy in Japan (Tokyo), came to Urasenke Konnichian that afternoon, and Daisosho Genshitsu SEN hosted a chakai for them in the Chofu-no-ma room of the Heisei Chashitsu. Daisosho Sen had been in the Slovenian capital, Ljubljana, just that past June for the inaugural events of the Urasenke Tankokai Slovenia Association, and made tea for the presidents of the Slovenian National Assembly and National Council at the Parliament Building during that visit. His memory of those events and the beautiful country were still very fresh, adding to his warm conversation with the Prime Minister and others.

The tea-preparation by Daisosho Sen was ryurei style, employing a tenchaban tea-making table. When Daisosho's temae (tea-making procedure) was over, he invited the Prime Minister to try making a bowl of matcha tea at the tenchaban. The matcha that Prime Minister Cerar made, Daisosho drank with gracious appreciation.
