His Highness Sayyid HAITHAM bin Tarik Al Said, Minister of Heritage and Culture of the Sultanate of Oman and first cousin of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos, visited Japan from March 31 to April 5, 2008, as a guest of the Japanese Minister of Foreign Affairs, and on April 4, he came to Konnichian to experience Japan's traditional Way of Tea. Iemoto Zabosai SEN Soshitsu XVI and Mrs. Sen greeted him at the Kabutomon, and in the Totsutotsusai they served him a bowl of tea. Afterwards, as H.H. Haitham has a keen interest in architecture, Iemoto Zabosai showed him into the tiny Konnichian tearoom and the four-and-a-half mat Yuin, and explained to him about their features and history.
