Governor Sergio CABRAL of the Brazilian state of Rio de Janeiro Visits Konnichian


As a part of the activities for the 2008 Japan-Brazil Year of Exchange commemorating the centennial of Japanese immigration to Brazil, Governor Sergio CABRAL of the Brazilian state of Rio de Janeiro, with his wife and a group of representatives from various branches of his ministry, visited Japan in March, by invitation of the Japanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The morning of March 15, Daisosho SEN Genshitsu welcomed them for a bowl of tea at Konnichian. Greeting them at the Kabutomon, he led them to the Totsutotsusai, where they took their seats sitting traditional style on the tatami. As Daisosho Sen made tea for them, he chatted about his own visit years ago to Rio, mentioning that he was an Honorary Citizen of the State of Rio. After the tea, he showed them the certificate he received in 1977, naming him Honorary Citizen.
