President Stjepan MESIC of Croatia Visits Konnichian


President Stjepan MESIC of the Republic of Croatia made an official visit to Japan March 4-8, 2008. It coincided with the 15th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Croatia and Japan. He entered Kyoto -- sister city of the Croatian capital, Zagreb -- the evening of March 6, and the next morning visited Urasenke Konnichian. Daisosho SEN Genshitsu greeted President Mesic at the Kabutomon and showed him into the Totsutotsusai room within the historical complex. The eight others who also were seated in the Totsutsusai included the president's special advisors, Budimir LONCAR and Tomislav JAKIC; Ambassador Drago STAMBUK of the Croatian Embassy in Japan; Ambassador SHIRAKAWA Tetsuhisa of the Japanese Embassy in Croatia; the Japanese Foreign Ministry's ambassador for the Kansai, YAMAZAKI Ryuichiro; and Urasenke Tankokai Inc. NPO advisor AMAE Kishichiro, former ambassador for the Kansai.
