As the 2008 recipient of the Niwano Peace Prize, Prince El Hassan bin Talal of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan was in Japan with his wife, Princess Sarvath El Hassan, to attend the presentation ceremony that was held in Tokyo on May 8. The following day, Japanese Princess Takamado Hisako, brought them to Konnichian, where Iemoto Zabosai SEN Soshitsu XVI prepared tea for them in the Totsutotsusai. After the tea service, Iemoto Zabosai's wife, SEN Masako, who is the sister-in-law of Princess Takamado, joined her husband in showing the guests the Hosensai and Tairyuken rooms in the historical Konnichian complex, which featured traditional decorations for Boy's Day. It was the second time for Princess Sarvath to be a guest at Konnichian, the first time having been in August, 2006, on the occasion of the 8th World Assembly of Religions for Peace, for which Prince El Hassan served as moderator.
